What Unlock Earth is

Unlock Earth ("the app") connects to your Strava account and awards permanent "unlocks" of municipalities (or equivalent local administrative areas) based on GPS activity data you record on Strava. Boundary data comes from public sources (geoBoundaries and national mapping authorities — see in-app attribution); we don't claim ownership of that underlying geographic data.

Your account

• You need a Strava account to use most features. You are responsible for keeping your Strava credentials secure — we never see or store your Strava password.
• You must have the right to connect the Strava account you use.
• One account per person. Don't create accounts to impersonate someone else or to manipulate "World First" credits.

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to:

• Falsify GPS data, spoof locations, or otherwise game the unlock mechanic. Unlocks — especially World Firsts — are meant to reflect real activity.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data.
• Abuse, scrape, or overload the service, including automated requests to our backend outside of normal app use.
• Use the app in any way that violates Strava's own Terms of Service or API Agreement — your access to Strava's data through this app is subject to Strava's terms as well as ours.

Unlocks and achievements

Unlocks are based on GPS data qualifying against boundary rules described in the app. Boundary tiers and thresholds may be corrected or refined as we improve data accuracy — for example, replacing a provisional data source with an authoritative one. In rare cases this could affect which municipalities are unlockable or their boundaries, though we make a deliberate effort not to invalidate unlocks you've already earned. World First credits reflect the order unlocks were recorded in our system, not an independently verified world record.

Availability

• Country and boundary coverage is limited and growing over time — see the app's own "coming soon" indicators for areas not yet available. We make no promise about when or whether a specific area will be added.
• We may need to pause, change, or discontinue features, including due to changes in Strava's API terms, which this app depends on.

Account termination

• You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This is permanent and immediate.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including falsified activity data or abuse of the service.

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is." Boundary data, distance calculations, and unlock eligibility are provided on a best-effort basis and may contain errors. We are not liable for GPS inaccuracies originating from your device or Strava, or for decisions you make based on unlock status — for example, treating an unlock as an official record.

Changes to these terms

We'll make reasonable efforts to notify you in-app of material changes before they take effect.
